Final Analysis: While most of the attacks were brought on by what had been affecting people at the moon viewing, the first incident doesn't possess such extraneous factors.

Correct. The moon viewing is in reference to the event that was prepared for the residents. Surmising from my observations, those impacted by a young boy in a mask experienced heightened emotions which may have further provoked Sutcliffe's actions.

[ Though not completely, as the first 'victim' had proven that it wasn't needed for her to go off attacking people. Conveniently enough, that was when William woke up. The list probably would've been longer. ]
